The upstairs landing is the first space which is thoroughly renovated. It needs work. Part of the ceiling risks coming down, while it is suspended from a rotten beam, no 7 rotten beams we find out as son as we open up. The walls have huge cracks and hollows. Inside a cupboard we uncover the ancient stone passage portal to the former one big room, now separated into two sitting-bed rooms. While working on it we decide to situate the toilet outside the future bathroom, in the landing’s corner. The images tell all here. There’s not a straight stretch of wall to be found. We plaster all sides and keep the curved accents.
