Most interesting feature of the this sitting-bed room is its accessibility straight from the outside via the stone stairways. The oak door onto it has 9 small windows. Another intriguing detail is the carved stone niche, the only one exposed in the house before the one in the barroom was uncovered. As to its function the best guesses are a cold storage or safe. Probably it was closed by two wooden doors, as are similar niches in the Vezelay church.
